Thermoplastic, also known as Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride, was first developed in the late 1950s. Its first commercial production started in 1959 and the first residential installation was done in 1960. CPVC ( Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) Pipes are manufactured using the twin screw extrusion technology. These pipes are joined using the CPVC solvent cement which makes these pipes easy to install. CPVC pipes are strong and rigid and have proven the test of time making them highly durable with low ownership and maintenance costs. They are not prone to corrosion and are resistant to scale formation. They are heat resistant up to 93 degree C and are also flame retardant. CPVC is further resistant to chemicals, alcohols, acids, hydrocarbons, bases, etc.

Due to this CPVC has become the most preferable material for hot and cold water plumbing in India and many other parts of the world.
